Go All-Digital

Supporting the global environment we supply all software as digital downloads only. How can you participate?

We all can be part of the solution. Digital downloads are the "green" answer to demanding fewer resources for your computer's needs. What you get is software with an environmental footprint of zero while still staying up-to-date.

Digital downloads are one part of the larger trend in making our lives - both professional and personal - cleaner, more efficient, and better. Continue reading to see what else you can do to improve your green computing.

Limit screen-saver use. A screen saver does not save energy. In fact, more often than not, a screen saver not only will draw power for the monitor, but also will keep the CPU from shutting down. Instead, set your computer to turn off the monitor first, then go into standby mode after a longer period of inactivity.

Disconnect your Virtual Private Network (VPN) when not actively using your corporate network. Being connected may limit your system's ability to enter standby mode.

Many popular computer games and other third party software packages that run in the background will not allow the computer to go to sleep - even if they are paused or the active window is minimized.

Some web sites or pages that have active banners and or animated advertisements will not allow the computer to sleep on its own and must be closed, or the computer put manually into a sleep state.

Enabled power management to place your monitor, hard drives and computer into a low-power "sleep" mode after a period of inactivity.

Monitor/display sleep: Turn off after 15 minutes or less

Turn off hard drives/hard disk sleep: 15 minutes or less

System standby/sleep: After 30 minutes or less

Advanced users may wish to establish multiple power schemes to address different usage models. For example, you can create a power scheme for playing music CDs that shuts off your hard drive and monitor immediately, but never puts your system into standby mode.

To further reduce power consumption, turn off computing and peripheral devices that are not being used or being used for an extended period of time such as overnight.

Plug all your electronics into one surge protector, so you can easily switch them all off when you leave the room or go to sleep. Most power supplies (such as your cell phone charger) continue to draw power and generate heat even when not attached to a device.

This is especially useful for large archives. You can also directly delete files from archives, rename files inside an archive, and move them around – all without recompressing.Compatibility: Have BetterZip remove Mac specific files from archives for archives that look and behave well on Windows.Edit archived files in an external application and BetterZip can update your archive.

BetterZip is not a replacement for a real ePub editor, but since ePub files are really just special zip files, why not use BetterZip to peek into or even modify them.
Preview Preview or Quick Look files inside your archives without extracting first.
Protect Protect your data with strong AES-256 encryption. Never email sensitive files unencrypted or upload them to cloud services without protection.
Password Manager and Password Generator BetterZip can collect a list of archive passwords in your keychain and use them automatically whenever you open an encrypted archive.New: BetterZip 3 features a password generator similar to Safari's. Let BetterZip suggest strong passwords whenever needed.
Presets BetterZip allows you to create presets for creating and extracting archives. Presets collect all settings that can be applied to an archive, from the destination folder and archive format, to passwords and even a script to execute after the operation completed.
Filtering BetterZip can filter out unwanted files during archive extraction. No more Thumbs.db and other unwanted stuff from other systems! It can also prevent files from being put into your archive in the first place. You don't want your hidden version control folders or backup files in the archive.
Extensive AppleScript Support New: BetterZip 3 can be scripted using AppleScript. Integrate it in your workflows.
Archive Comments New: Display, add, and update archive comments for zip and rar formats. BetterZip can also display the file comments that may be present in zip files.
Services BetterZip offers two configurable services, one for creating and one for extracting archives. Choose a preset for each which can be started through the Services menu and even be given a shortcut key.
Test archives Quickly test an archive without extracting it to find out whether it is damaged.New: Test archives using the operations queue.
Integrated QL Generator New: The widely used BetterZip Quick Look Generator is now integrated into BetterZip. Using the QL generator is still free for all, but there is one neat new feature that requires a BetterZip license (after the trial expired): The new QL generator lets you click a file in the archive. At this point it will hand command over to BetterZip which extracts and displays the clicked file. It's really nice, if I say so myself.

What customers say

Robert, US
I appreciate the help the support team provided with the installation on my computer. The tech spent well over three hours trying to get the product installed and the licensing handled. We went through numerous restarts and they always responded promptly after I sent a password for the remote access to my computer. I will highly recommend your company to others for software purchase. Thanks again.
Sandra, NZ
I had some trouble downloading the software myself but the customer support team helped promptly and solved all my issues to the highest level of satisfaction. Thanks.
Kenneth, US
As long as the buyer carefully reads the download and installation instructions there should be no problems. Once installed the Access 2010 that I purchases interfaced seamlessly with my other Office 2010 programs.
